In the field of 3D metamaterials, the 3D Matter Made to Order cluster is developing customized artificial materials that exhibit a wide range of features not found in nature.

Prof. Dr. Jörg Mittelstät, Professor of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at Reutlingen University, is researching programmable biomaterials in the "CAR-AdMATRIX" project to enable better and more cost-effective cancer therapy.

Dr Simon Krause is a chemist and materials scientist working in the field of dynamic nanoporous framework materials. He studied chemistry at the University of Nottingham and TU Dresden. Since 2021 is a group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart.

Prof. Dr. Hendrik Süß has been appointed to the Department of Algebra at Friedrich Schiller University Jena starting winter semester 2021. He previously conducted research at the University of Manchester, UK.

Prof. Sebastian Schillo, professor at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, is researching the interface between mechatronic assemblies and biological systems. In particular, 4D printed components are to be incubated with mycelium in order to realize biointelligent behaviour.

Dr. Nadja Henke studied biology and genome-based systems biology at Bielefeld University and received her PhD in industrial biotechnology in the field of metabolic engineering. During her postdoc, she developed novel bioprocesses for the production of pigments.

The research prize honors top international scientists. The scientists' discoveries, theories or findings have a lasting impact on their field and contribute to aspects of diversity.

The FORUM communication and meeting center serves interdisciplinary exchange. With conference and meeting rooms, it is being built in downtown Jena.

The Prisma fund will enable Prof. Dr. Tobias Hauser, Professor of Computational Psychiatry in Tübingen, to set up a new German-language platform to provide information on the causes of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The CZS STEM-Forum at the University of Koblenz facilitates formats such as seminars, conferences, or workshops for interdisciplinary exchange between STEM scientists, offers support for young scientists and research, and supports regional networking.
