The research prize honors top international scientists. The scientists' discoveries, theories or findings have a lasting impact on their field and contribute to aspects of diversity.
Goals
The Humboldt Foundation presents an annual award sponsored by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung. This is awarded to an internationally recognized scientific personality from abroad.
The award-winning scientist's fundamental discoveries, new theories or findings have had a lasting impact on their own specialist field, even beyond their narrow field of work. Through their personality and research, they have contributed to the promotion of diversity aspects in their field. In addition, they are expected to continue their scientific excellence in the future.
The aim is also to promote the exchange of these scientists with colleagues from Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia, thereby strengthening Germany as a research location.
