Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) STEM impulses - Small funding projects – CZS Individual funding

    Short description

The OAE, which is based at the House of Astronomy in Heidelberg, aims to support astronomers and teachers worldwide in awakening a fascination for astronomy among pupils and to promote the exchange of experiences in educational work.

Optics4Space STEM impulses - Small funding projects – CZS Individual funding

    Short description

With the aim of using astronomical telescopes more efficiently, Optics4Space is developing a space-saving optical beam splitter. This is to be used for the first time on a small satellite.

Palaeontology STEM impulses - Individual funding programmes

    Short description

Prof. Dr Steve Bohaty has held the professorship of palaeontology at Heidelberg University since 1 February 2022. He previously conducted research at the University of Southampton, UK.

Phenology-based pollen prediction and EEG-based allergic response assessment using AI Artificial Intelligence - Project funding programmes – CZS Breakthroughs

    Short description

Pollen-related respiratory allergies affect up to 30% of the world's population. Climate change is further exacerbating the problem. However, forecasting pollen fields is extremely difficult. PollenNet aims to provide a more accurate and up-to-date forecast of local pollen loads.

Physician Scientist Program at HI-TAC Life Science Technologies - Large individual funding projects – CZS Individual funding

    Short description

The Physician Scientist Program at HI-TAC trains research-based physicians in vascular biomedicine, systems biology and cardiac research. The Helmholtz Institute is a cooperation between the University of Heidelberg and the Max Delbrück Center in Berlin.

Predictive digital maintenance of aeration at wastewater treatment plants (VODIWABEKA) STEM impulses - Individual funding programmes – CZS research boost

    Short description

Prof. Dr. Paul Engelke, Professor of Wastewater Treatment and Water Treatment at the EAH Jena, is developing a digital analysis tool for predictive, intelligent maintenance of wastewater treatment plant components in the areas of construction and mechanical engineering.

Predictive quality assessment for complex production processes Artificial Intelligence - Project funding programmes – CZS Transfer

    Short description

How can artificial intelligence simplify manufacturing processes and contribute to quality assurance? For quality assessment in the process, among other things, an expert system is being set up and digital twins are being used.

Process Engineering 4.0: Machine Learning and Physical Modelling Artificial Intelligence - Project funding programmes – CZS Perspectives

    Short description

The project is about bringing together machine learning and physical modelling. The two funded junior professors are looking at process engineering processes from basic material data to industrial processes.

Professorship for Computational Psychiatry STEM impulses - Individual funding programmes

    Short description

Prof. Dr. Tobias Hauser holds the professorship for Computational Psychiatry at the University of Tübingen since February 15, 2023. Previously, he conducted research at University College London.

Professorship for Molecular Nutritional Sciences STEM impulses - Individual funding programmes

    Short description

Prof. Dr. Katrin Giller has occupied the professorship for Molecular Nutritional Sciences at the University of Hohenheim since October 1, 2023. Previously, she conducted research at ETH Zurich.
