The OAE, which is based at the House of Astronomy in Heidelberg, aims to support astronomers and teachers worldwide in awakening a fascination for astronomy among pupils and to promote the exchange of experiences in educational work.
With the aim of using astronomical telescopes more efficiently, Optics4Space is developing a space-saving optical beam splitter. This is to be used for the first time on a small satellite.

Pollen-related respiratory allergies affect up to 30% of the world's population. Climate change is further exacerbating the problem. However, forecasting pollen fields is extremely difficult. PollenNet aims to provide a more accurate and up-to-date forecast of local pollen loads.
The Physician Scientist Program at HI-TAC trains research-based physicians in vascular biomedicine, systems biology and cardiac research. The Helmholtz Institute is a cooperation between the University of Heidelberg and the Max Delbrück Center in Berlin.
Prof. Dr. Paul Engelke, Professor of Wastewater Treatment and Water Treatment at the EAH Jena, is developing a digital analysis tool for predictive, intelligent maintenance of wastewater treatment plant components in the areas of construction and mechanical engineering.
How can artificial intelligence simplify manufacturing processes and contribute to quality assurance? For quality assessment in the process, among other things, an expert system is being set up and digital twins are being used.
The project is about bringing together machine learning and physical modelling. The two funded junior professors are looking at process engineering processes from basic material data to industrial processes.
