Prof. Dr Steve Bohaty has held the professorship of palaeontology at Heidelberg University since 1 February 2022. He previously conducted research at the University of Southampton, UK.

Goals

The professorship in palaeontology is intended to strengthen the links between the various geoscientific sub-disciplines at Heidelberg University. In addition, the professorship is also intended to strengthen networking with the "Heidelberg Center for the Environment" (HCE) and biology. As part of the Excellence Initiative, the HCE is to network all areas of "environmental sciences" in an interdisciplinary manner. The professorship also plays an important role in teaching, for example in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in " Geosciences".

Professor Bohaty's appointment was supported by proportional funding for high-performance microscopes. Furthermore, funds were approved for dual-career measures.
