CZS NWG for "Polymers in Energy Applications" at HIPOLE Resource efficiency - Large individual funding projects, Individual funding programmes – CZS Individual funding

    Short description

In the CZS Young Investigator Group, Dr. Kevin Maik Jablonka researches polymers at the interface between materials science and data science. Since 2023, he has been group leader at the Helmholtz Institute for Polymers in Energy Applications.

CZS STEM-Forum for interdisciplinary dialogue STEM impulses – CZS Individual funding

    Short description

The CZS STEM-Forum at the University of Koblenz facilitates formats such as seminars, conferences, or workshops for interdisciplinary exchange between STEM scientists, offers support for young scientists and research, and supports regional networking.

CZS Stiftungsprofessur Nachhaltige molekulare Katalyse für Energiewandlung" - HIPOLE Resource efficiency - Individual funding programmes – CZS Endowed Professorships

    Short description

A junior professorship is being funded at the Institute for Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Jena. By means of "artificial photosynthesis", more sustainable catalysts are to be developed compared to current ones based on e.g. platinum.

Decarbonization of energy-intensive industry through smart sector coupling with AI-based probabilistic forecasting and operations management (DeepCarbPlanner). Resource efficiency - Project funding programmes – CZS Transfer

    Short description

With the help of machine learning methods, measures for effective and economical emission reduction are being researched in the project. The digital twin of a production process is used to show ways to achieve climate-neutral production.

Decarbonized energy supply of the building stock through system-serving bidirectional cold local heating networks Resource efficiency - Project funding programmes – CZS Transfer

    Short description

The aim of the project is to decarbonize the heat supply of existing buildings and thus dispense with fossil natural gas. To achieve this, cold local heating networks are designed bidirectionally and solar heat from the summer is stored seasonally in the ground and used in the winter.

DeepTurb – Deep Learning in und von Turbulenz Artificial Intelligence - Project funding programmes – CZS Perspectives

    Short description

DeepTurb aims to explore and understand fundamental transport processes through more effective modeling of turbulent flows. Using AI, the dynamics of turbulent superstructures will be extracted and predicted in dynamical systems.

DELIVER – Data-driven Engineering of Sustainable Living Materials Resource efficiency - Project funding programmes – CZS Wildcard

    Short description

DELIVER is a new concept at the interface of materials science, synthetic biology and data science. By means of cell programming and machine learning, wood-based materials with arbitrarily adjustable properties are to be produced.

Design of carbon-derived electrode materials towards rechargeable Al-N2 batteries Resource efficiency - Individual funding programmes – CZS Nexus

    Short description

Dr. Desirée Leistenschneider is a chemist and researches batteries. She studied and completed her doctorate at TU Dresden. After a postdoctoral phase at the University of Alberta (Canada), she now heads a junior research group at the University of Jena.

Development and establishment of a modular AR-based learning application for the visualization of the birth mechanism (AR-BIRTH) STEM impulses - Individual funding programmes – CZS research boost

    Short description

Prof. Dr. Julia Berger, Professor of Applied Midwifery at Furtwangen University, uses AR-animated applications with interactive elements to improve the understanding of physiological and pathological processes during childbirth.

Digital methods in production Artificial Intelligence - Individual funding programmes – CZS Endowed Professorships

    Short description

Prof. Dr Doris Aschenbrenner has been appointed Endowed Professor for Digital Methods in Production at Aalen University starting in the summer semester of 2021.
