Prof. Dr. Andreas Hejnol has been appointed as Professor of Zoology at the University of Jena starting winter semester 2021. He previously conducted research at the University of Bergen, Norway.
Goals
The professorship, which is linked to the management of the Phyletic Museum, is intended to set forward-looking accents in the field of zoology and evolutionary research and to strengthen already existing research focus such as aging research, microbial communication and biodiversity.
Professor Hejnol's appointment was supported by the funding of a research assistant position as well as the proportional funding of a 4D microscopy system for research work on the ontology of animals.
