In the "Transfer and Competence Centre Industrial AI", potentials and possibilities of the use of AI in production processes of medium-sized companies are researched on the basis of industrial applications.
Goals
The use of AI in production is still difficult for many small and medium-sized enterprises. Adapted AI solutions are not transferable enough to other use cases. Setting up and operating AI approaches requires in-depth technical know-how. And the results achieved are often not fully comprehensible by humans. Although many companies have sufficient amounts of data, they lack the tools to evaluate it. The project aims to address these problems through research. Potentials and possible solutions are to be demonstrated on the basis of three leading industrial applications. For example, artificial intelligence should independently recognise errors and intervene in the production process. An AI-driven data set analysis will show how existing parameters are related to the error cases. In addition, AI is to independently set up the parameters for commissioning using the example of a bulk material plant. In addition to the applications studied as examples, the permanent establishment of the "Transfer and Competence Centre Industrial AI" ensures a sustainable transfer of results to the region.
