Prof. Dr Philip Pogge von Strandmann has been appointed as Professor of Sedimentary Geochemistry at the University of Mainz starting winter semester 2020. He previously researched and taught at the University of London, UK.
Goals
The focus of the professorship is high-resolution paleoclimate research. The aim is to understand how the Earth's climate reacted to extreme disturbances in the past. The results will be used to understand future global warming.
Professor Pogge von Strandmann's appointment was supported by funding for laboratory equipment and an ion chromatography system.
