The use of AI methods is a key prerequisite for ensuring the competitiveness of medium-sized companies. The "AI Booster" doctoral college at Aalen University is therefore researching new AI models in order to better process and utilize data from manufacturing processes.
Goals
The importance of digitalization for the (supra)regional economy will continue to grow in the coming years. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) methods will become a basic prerequisite for the competitiveness of many companies in production.
Very detailed knowledge and skills are required both in the field of production and machine learning. Building up the necessary expertise in both areas and keeping it up to date is a major challenge.
As part of "AI-Booster", a cross-faculty doctoral college on the subject of artificial intelligence (AI) is therefore to be established and implemented at Aalen University. The focus will be on Physics-lnformed-Transformer models and Physics-lnformed-Foundation models based on them. In particular, a flexibly adaptable model for AI-based production and material development will be researched.
The college brings together five working groups from the two central research areas of Advanced Materials and Manufacturing and Photonics with a working group from the field of AI. The "AI-Booster" thus lays the foundation for sustainable innovations in manufacturing through the use of AI.
