The pilot programme is intended to test new concepts for recruiting staff at universities of applied sciences. The special feature: the two Endowed Professors are employed in the company parallel to their university work.
Goals
The Carl Zeiss Foundation is launching a new pilot programme at Aalen University. The funding of two "shared professorships" is intended to test new concepts for attracting highly qualified specialists to universities of applied sciences. The special feature: the two endowed professors are employed in a company parallel to their university work. This allows them to get to know and combine both worlds at an early stage in their careers. The foundation and the university are thus following a recommendation of the German Science Council. The foundation company ZEISS cooperates with Aalen University to this end. Aalen University is using the funding as the core for establishing a centre for machine learning.
