"Reman4E-Scooter" addresses the question of how the useful life of e-scooters can be extended. The goal is to develop a transportable container for flexible, partially automated repair.
Goals
Electrically powered e-scooters are offered by various rental services in almost all major cities worldwide. Even though the scooters relieve road traffic, they have one major drawback: their durability. An e-scooter in the rental business often has a lifetime of only a few months. After that, they are defective and scrapped.
The aim of the project is to design the repair of e-scooters in such a way that it is economically viable and logistically feasible. Prof. Dr. Vette-Steinkamp and his team are developing a repair system in an old sea container for this purpose. The container features robot stations that carry out critical repair work together with employees. The transportable container can be moved from city to city with the appropriate specialist staff - depending on where the need for repairs is the highest.
Initial approaches were already developed before the project started. The team is now working on equipping the container with appropriate systems on campus, programming them and putting them into operation. Companies that could use the containers will be involved in the development.
