Non-invasive system for measuring parameters relevant to sleep quality

The project aims to develop a sensor box to check the quality of sleep, which should replace time-consuming examinations in the laboratory. The box is placed under the mattress at home; there is no need for camera monitoring or wiring.

Goals

Around a quarter of Germans have the feeling of sleeping badly, and from the age of 40 the number rises even further. Older people or those living alone are particularly affected. Lack of sleep reduces performance, can lead to physical illnesses, psychological problems and - in extreme cases - premature death. Examinations of sleep quality in the sleep laboratory are costly and only possible to a limited extent. The aim of the project at HTWG Konstanz is therefore to develop a sensor box that can be used at home. The sensor box is placed under the mattress, camera monitoring or wiring is not necessary. In addition to the development, the use of the box will be tested and the data analysed.
