Nanophysiology: Subcellular patterning with high resolution

Topic: STEM impulses
Type of funding: Individual funding programmes
Programme: CZS Endowed Professorships
Funded institution:
  • Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau

Prof. Dr. Tanja Maritzen has been appointed as an Endowed Professor of Nanophysiology - High Resolution Subcellular Pattern Formation at TU Kaiserslautern.

Goals

The professorship, which is embedded in the strategic research focus of membrane and systems biology at the TU Kaiserslautern, is intended to assume a bridging function between biological working groups and biophysics, biomathematics and bioinformatics. The aim is to record the mechanisms of subcellular pattern formation and their physiological and pathophysiological functions. To this end, ultra-high resolution light microscopy will be used with the inclusion of other complementary modern techniques.
