Mobile and Cloud computing

Focus topic: Artificial Intelligence
Type of funding: Individual funding programmes

Funded institution:

Prof. Dr Michael Stepping was appointed as Endowed Chair for Mobile and Cloud Computing at Jena University of Applied Sciences starting winter semester 2018.

Goals

The endowed chair "Mobile and Cloud Computing" in the eCommerce degree programme deals with many aspects of the mobile use of services in the eCommerce/mCommerce fields. Here, the focus is on the question of what needs to be considered in the future for the mobile use of digital offers on the web. In addition to the creation of native applications (Android) and also cross-operating system programming (cross-compiler), an important aspect is the online and offline use of services as well as the usability and operating concepts of mobile applications. Android as an open-source operating system and implementations on many different hardware (mobile phones, small computers) are subject to constant further development and new concepts such as the long overdue separation of kernel and hardware. The mobile applications can also be seen as a front end to cloud-based back ends. In the cloud solutions, in addition to technical challenges such as various virtualisations, scalability and maintainability, data protection requirements must also be taken into account.
