In the context of the Cluster of Excellence "Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science", the potential of machine learning for science is to be developed in the Carl Zeiss Foundation Laboratory for Machine Learning.

Goals

In recent years, the research area "Machine Learning" at the University of Tübingen has been expanded into a central research focus. Among other things, the BMBF-funded competence centre for machine learning "Tü AI Center" was established in autumn 2018, which focuses on application areas of machine learning methods. Since January 2019, the Cluster of Excellence "Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science" has also been funded, which aims to open up the full potential of machine learning for science. In this context, a "Carl Zeiss Foundation Laboratory for Machine Learning" will be established at the University of Tübingen. The goal is to further expand and develop the research focus on machine learning at the Tübingen location.
