The goal of Digi-FIT is secure, automated processing and utilisation of data based on Smart Production, Data Integration and Big Data Machine Learning, Data Visualisation and Virtual Engineering as well as Cyber Security.
Goals
The focus of Digi-FIT is on Industry 4.0 applications and the secure, automated processing and utilisation of data that arise in view of the technological leap forward in the digitisation of biomedical images and biomolecular information. The centre's innovation potential lies in the combination of new functionalities, interfaces and applications to be developed. One goal is to realise networked measuring devices in the sense of Industry 4.0 smart devices. Furthermore, data-intensive device infrastructures in mass spectrometry imaging and 3D microscopy are to be further developed through innovative image and signal processing and consistently expanded into platforms for the development of products and services with industry. The transfer centre rests on the following four pillars: (1) Smart Production - Industry 4.0, (2) Data Integration and Big Data Machine Learning for data from multimodal biomedical analytics and imaging, (3) Data Visualisation and Virtual Engineering, and (4) Data Security. The university contributes infrastructure and know-how from existing competence centres for pillars 3 and 4. New functionalities include aspects on central data hosting, data quality, integrity and security. Digi-FIT strengthens the possibilities to create digitalisation added value for ongoing projects, to carry out further cooperation projects with (small and medium-sized) companies, to effectively transfer results to industry and to expand cooperation with companies in the region as well as research actors in important innovation topics.
