Prof. Dr. Marcus Gelderie was appointed as Endowed Professor for Data Security and Data Analysis in the Internet of Things at Aalen University in the summer semester of 2018.

Goals

Professor Gelderies  work is dedicated to the security of software systems. Software errors occur frequently and can have serious consequences and ultimately even cost human lives. In order to detect and eliminate errors as early as possible, various methods and tools can be used, such as the so-called "sandbox". This "guard software" is an isolated area, sealed off from the system environment, in which software can be executed in a protected manner. The isolated environments can be used, for example, to test software for vulnerabilities or to track down hidden malware. In practice, however, the development and deployment of a sandbox involves considerable time and money. The goal of Professor Gelderie's research is to find a method with which a sandbox can be created automatically and does not have to be developed individually in a lengthy process.
