Professorship for Theoretical Atomic Physics - Synthetic Quantum Systems

Focus topic: Artificial Intelligence
Type of funding: Individual funding programmes
Programme: GSO/CZS Repatriation programme
Funded institution:
  • Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen

Prof. Dr. Igor Lesanovsky was appointed asProfessor of Theoretical Atomic Physics - Synthetic Quantum Systems at the University of Tübingen starting winter semester 2019. Previously, he researched and taught at the University of Nottingham, UK.

Goals

The research work of the professorship is at the interface of atomic physics, quantum optics and many-body physics. The aim is to deepen the understanding and application of artificially produced systems of highly excited atoms, the so-called quantum simulators.
The appointment of Professor Lesanovsky was supported by the funding of a research associate position.
