Prof. Dr. Michael Habeck has been appointed as Endowed Professor for Microscopic Image Analysis at the University of Jena starting winter semester 2019.
Goals
Professor Habeck's research focuses on the analysis of multimodal and multidimensional image data as well as single-molecule data. The physicist and mathematician benefits from a sound knowledge of statistics. Starting with his doctoral thesis at the EMBL in Heidelberg and at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, he specialised in Bayesian data analysis methods with application mainly in structural bioinformatics. He worked for four years at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, then headed an Emmy Noether junior research group in Tübingen and Göttingen. He then worked as a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen.
