Large Networks and Random Graphs

Funded institution:

Prof. Dr. Yury Person was appointed as Junior Professor for Large Networks and Random Graphs at TU Ilmenau for the summer semester 2018.

Goals

Professor Person works in the field of "extremal and probabilistic combinatorics", which was founded by Paul Erdös, one of the most important mathematicians of the 20th century. It is a topic of basic research, which, however, has links e.g. with computer science in the application area of property testing. In his research, Professor Person looks for patterns in large discrete structures that appear chaotic. The interplay of structure and chance is often used as an instrument of proof.
