Prof. Dr. Peter Bretschneider was appointed Endowed Professor for Energy Use Optimisation at TU Ilmenau starting in the winter semester of 2016.
Goals
The endowed chair "Energy Use Optimization" researches questions on the economically and ecologically optimal system management of the energy systems electricity, gas and heating or cooling. The focus is on energy management problems of liberalised energy markets and sector coupling. One research focus is self-learning energy management for the building and neighbourhood sector. Machine learning methods for the automatic identification of prediction and optimisation models are being developed and refined. The work is being carried out in cooperation with Fraunhofer IOSB-AST. The optimal use of flexibility potentials of cross-sectoral energy systems is another
research topic. Methods and tools for cross-system modelling and simulation as well as prediction and optimisation are being investigated as a component of future cross-sectoral energy management for municipal and regional supply areas. The third focus includes questions on the resilience of energy systems. For example, research is being conducted on the automatic detection of system anomalies.
