Prof. Dr. Ivano Amelio has held the professorship for Systems Toxicology at the University of Konstanz since 1 March 2022. He previously conducted research at the University of Rome.

Goals

The promising field of systems toxicology lies at the interface of biology, medicine, chemistry and computer science. The Systems Toxicology Professorship funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation is unique in Europe. The aim is to establish a lighthouse function in the field of systems toxicology and thus enhance the international reputation of Constance as a research location.

There are also plans to establish a joint centre for toxicology together with Switzerland.

The appointment of Professor Amelio was supported by the funding of an additional doctoral position and funds for a cell culture microscope. Furthermore, funds for dual-career measures were approved.
