EMBL Imaging Center: the world of molecular biology

Focus topic: Life Science Technologies
Type of funding: Small funding projects
Programme: CZS Impulse
Funded institution:
  • EMBL Heidelberg

Interested visitors aged 12 and over can discover the world of microbiology on 800 m². The new visitor centre is being built in the Imaging Centre of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg.

Goals

Seeing is understanding - this is the motto of the exhibition "The World of Molecular Biology". The focus is on light and electron microscopy. By looking out of the window, visitors can gaze at cryo-electron microscopes and observe scientists at work. The exhibition is intended to show the general public how basic research in molecular biology helps our society. School groups, students and scientists can also book laboratory tours and talk to EMBL researchers.

The exhibition is scheduled to open at the end of 2022.
