Wanted: interdisciplinary research groups

New funding programme for postdoctoral researchers

As part of the Nexus programme, the Carl Zeiss Foundation is offering postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to establish their own interdisciplinary research group. We are looking for outstanding young scientists who are aiming to embark on an academic career and who wish to implement exciting ideas at interfaces between various STEM fields.
Funding will be provided for the Group Director role (postdoctoral researchers), as well as additional personnel, equipment and investment funds, over a period of five to six years with a total funding amount of up to EUR 1.5 million.
The working group must be established at a state higher education institution or non-university research institution in the states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate or Thuringia and the research project must be in the STEM field at the interface between two or more disciplines. Funding projects are selected through competition and based on excellence criteria.
The application deadline for the call for proposals is 20 August 2021.
