In 2018, the Carl Zeiss Foundation used the opportunity to fund broad topical connections selected by international reviewers.
Five projects were identified which had successfully completed the first stage of the highly-competitive evaluation procedure by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the federal and state excellence strategy at the point in time of the approval and which stand out primarily thanks to their application relevance, as well as international excellence in research.
The following projects are being funded with a funding amount of eight to twelve million euro over a five-year period:
