The project aims to develop intelligent filters with optimized structures. The structures are based on nature's model and are intended to improve filter efficiency and energy requirements. One application example is the use in washing machines.
Fund for cross-site sustainability research in STEM subjects. In addition to funding about ten research projects, the focus is on raising awareness among young scientists.
Prof. Dr. Peter Bretschneider was appointed Endowed Professor for Energy Use Optimisation at TU Ilmenau starting in the winter semester of 2016.
Prof. Dr Holger Tost was appointed as Endowed Professor for Environmental Modelling in the Climate System at the University of Mainz starting winter semester of 2016.
Prof. Dr. Pascal Neis was appointed Endowed Professor for Geo-Government at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences in the winter semester 2018.
Questions relating to intelligent functional ceramics are being investigated. In addition to materials development and characterisation, component and system development up to prototype application will be covered.
The aim of the project is to develop an intelligent natural fibre composite material with integrated sensors. The sensors enable continuous monitoring and thus reliable statements on the stability of the ultra-light composite material.
The Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH) at the University of Freiburg is establishing a competence centre for the development of functional material systems with funding from the Carl Zeiss Foundation.
The project researches intelligent materials for efficient energy converters and storage, e.g. for electromobility. The material properties are determined from structural information using machine learning algorithms and neural networks.
Ceramic solar cells are intended to bring together the advantages of different technologies: The printability of organic solar cells, the ferroelectricity of lead halide perovskite and the long-term stability of crystalline solar cells.
