MEMORI – Machine Learning Methods for Determining Functional Properties of Smart Materials

Focus topic: Artificial Intelligence
Type of funding: Project funding programmes
Programme: CZS Transfer
Funded institution:
  • Hochschule Aalen - Technik und Wirtschaft

The project researches intelligent materials for efficient energy converters and storage, e.g. for electromobility. The material properties are determined from structural information using machine learning algorithms and neural networks.

Goals

The focus is on the application of artificial intelligence methods for the development and quality assessment of magnet and battery materials. The material properties are determined from structural information with the help of machine learning algorithms and neural networks. In addition to a better understanding of the structure-property correlations, it should be possible in the future to make predictions about the function, quality or service life of these materials. In a later project phase, the transferability of the models and concepts developed in the project to other material classes will be investigated. The materials investigated are relevant for electric motors and wind power generators as well as for batteries and fuel cells and thus for electromobility and renewable energies.
