New approaches to the use of digital technologies in the care of people with dementia are being developed together with those affected and their caregivers. Interactive apps stimulate social interaction, virtual coaches support relatives.

Goals

In Germany, around 1.7 million people are affected by dementia. The care and support of these people is one of the greatest challenges facing society. In the project at Furtwangen University, new approaches to the use of digital technologies in the care of these people are being developed and evaluated. Interactive apps and programmes are designed to encourage and challenge the social interaction of those affected, for example with sound and music experiments. Virtual coaches support caring relatives. The technologies are developed and tested together with the people affected and the staff of the participating institutions.
