On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung convened for its annual meeting, focusing on the topic of artificial intelligence. Current developments were discussed together with experts from various fields of AI research.
The discussion focused on questions regarding the challenges facing computer science in the domain-specific application of Artificial Intelligence, which trends and topics in the field of AI are currently particularly relevant to the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung, as well as the specific challenges that arise in AI projects and how the framework conditions for such projects can be improved.
“With the experts’ answers and recommendations, we ensure that our Calls for applications in the priority area of Artificial Intelligence serve the computer science community and align with the goals of the CZS as a foundation promoting STEM,” explain the responsible program managers Lukas Findeisen and Johannes Wimmer. “This exchange is a great opportunity for us to discuss both substantive and structural issues with leading figures in AI research.
