14.09.2026 Talente Eight new research projects approved under the CZS Research Boost program
With eight newly approved projects in the CZS Research Boost program, the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung supports newly appointed professors at universities of applied sciences as they begin their careers in applied research.
The research projects focus on key future topics at the intersections of artificial intelligence, digitalization, life science technologies, and resource efficiency. Among other things, the grant recipients are developing trustworthy AI for digital twins, digital twin and simulation environments for autonomous maritime robots, multilingual audience and survey simulations, and digital solutions for residential construction. Other projects focus on label-free microscopy, the energy-efficient removal of trace substances from wastewater, and the non-destructive analysis of silicon carbide power semiconductors. One research project is also dedicated to the sustainable use of space through in-orbit inspection, repair, and recycling.
With this funding, the newly appointed professors will have the opportunity to establish their own research projects and further develop their research vision during the first two years of their tenure. The grant amount under the CZS Research Boost program is up to 200,000 euros for two years. In addition, the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung pays a overhead fee amounting to 20 percent of the grant amount.
As part of this call for proposals, the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung is funding projects at Trier University of Applied Sciences, Bingen University of Applied Sciences, Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena, Furtwangen University, Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, Stuttgart Media University, and Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. The selection was made through a competitive process.
