Together with the city and university of Jena, Carl Zeiss AG and the Ernst Abbe Foundation, the Carl Zeiss Foundation established the German Optical Museum Foundation. The director of the museum holds a CZS endowed professorship for the history of physics.
The Carl Zeiss Foundation supports 150 German scholarships at a total of 20 universities in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia, thus creating scope for young scientists in STEM subjects.
Prof. Jennifer Brings, Professor of Software and Web Engineering at Bingen University of Applied Sciences, is developing a goal-oriented requirements engineering approach. The aim is to enable the documentation and automated analysis of goals for collaborative system networks.
Dr. Boris Karanov conducts research in the field of digital signal processing. He studied at universities in Sofia, Birmingham, Osaka and Berlin. After completing his doctorate at University College London, UK, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands.
To enable the building sector to react more flexibly to fluctuating electricity generation from renewable sources, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Dell'Anna at Bingen University of Applied Sciences is researching technical solutions for controlling system technology in buildings and districts.
Language models offer the opportunity to make the development and use of software more environmentally friendly. The project team is developing systems that consider the life cycle of software in order to record energy consumption and increase efficiency.
In a circular economy, organic halogen compounds such as Teflon are to be converted electrochemically into new materials and thus recycled. By using surplus electricity, the flexible process could help stabilize the power grid.
Prof. Simon Peter, Professor of Technical Mechanics at Reutlingen University, is developing a new measurement method for hearing diagnosis. The middle ear is specifically measured and the most relevant vibration variables are recorded with increased efficiency, accuracy and improved interpretability.
