3D Endoscopic Microfabrication (3DEndoFab) Life Science Technologies, Talents - Individual funding programmes – CZS Nexus

    Short description

Dr. Andrea Toulouse conducts research in the field of micro-optics and fibre-based 3D printing. After studying physics at RWTH Aachen University, she worked as a development engineer in industry. This was followed by a doctorate and postdoc at the University of Stuttgart.

Chitin fluid: Chitin as a resource for multifunctional materials via water-based complex fluids Resource efficiency - Project funding programmes – CZS Perspectives

    Short description

Among other things, chitin is the main component of the exoskeleton of spiders. Research is being conducted into chitin-based materials that can be chemically modified to make them fireproof, mold-resistant, robust and - unlike synthetic polymers - compostable.

CZS Center QPhoton Artificial Intelligence - Project funding programmes – CZS Center

    Short description

The first transregional centre for quantum photonics at the universities of Jena, Stuttgart and Ulm offers around 50 scientists a cross-disciplinary and cross-location platform for research and exchange.

Engineering a better-than-nature enzymatic mechanism for biohydrogen production Resource efficiency, Risk - Project funding programmes – CZS Wildcard

    Short description

Using a synthetic enzyme, Energase, green hydrogen is to be produced from biomass by microorganisms in a carbon-neutral way. This allows a more efficient synthesis pathway to be used than with known enzymes.

German Scholarships Talents - Individual funding programmes – CZS German scholarships

    Short description

The Carl Zeiss Foundation supports 150 German scholarships at a total of 20 universities in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia, thus creating scope for young scientists in STEM subjects.

Quantum Sciences (TQuant) Artificial Intelligence - Large individual funding projects – CZS Applied basic science

    Short description

At the IQST, physicists, engineers, life scientists, mathematicians and experts from other disciplines work together to use the laws of quantum mechanics for innovative biomedical applications.

Stuttgart Research Initiative „Discursive Transformation of Energy Systems“ − SRI DiTEnS Resource efficiency - Project funding programmes – CZS Breakthroughs

    Short description

Research is being conducted into how virtual and augmented reality can be used to shape a transformation process with the various stakeholders in energy supply. Among other things, a digital twin of existing urban neighborhoods is being developed.
