Wissenschaftsbarometer 2026-2028

Focus: Science Communication
Type of funding: Small funding projects
Programme: CZS Individual funding
Funded institution:
  • Wissenschaft im Dialog

The Science Barometer uses surveys to determine the relationship between science and the public as the basis for a fact-based discussion on how science is positioned in society and where science communication can start.

Goals

Wissenschaft im Dialog (WiD) is the central science organization for science communication in Germany. As a non-profit limited liability company, it supports researchers with practical knowledge on effective communication, offers target group-oriented training, networks different stakeholders and develops innovative communication formats.

WiD's Science Barometer regularly provides insights into the relationship between science and the public by means of surveys representative of the population. To this end, surveys on the attitudes of German citizens towards science and research are conducted at regular intervals and with a different focus each year.

By sponsoring the Science Barometer, the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung is supporting an instrument of science communication. The overarching goal is to facilitate a fact-based discussion about how science and research are positioned in society and where science communication can start.
