Prof. Dr. Anne Stumper of Aalen University is researching a novel diagnostic approach for the independent monitoring of bodily fluids following initial treatment for conditions such as leukemia.
Goals
Together with cooperation partners, including the University of Ulm and the Ostalb Clinics, Prof. Dr. Anne Stumper is researching a new type of diagnostics for the autonomous monitoring of body fluids in the FLORAM project.
The aim of the project is to develop in-vitro diagnostics that make it possible to independently monitor and treat disease progression, particularly after oncological therapies.
By functionalizing metal complexes that detect characteristic target structures and have photo-active properties, photo-active test kits can be developed. These kits should be intuitive and safe to use at home with samples such as urine or blood.
The project is designed to minimize recurring visits to the doctor for follow-up examinations and to enable individual recurrence monitoring. This should reduce the burden on patients and improve the efficiency of follow-up care.
FLORAM provides a basis for further projects and international publications, strengthens the scientific profile of the newly appointed professor and expands the research profile of Aalen University in the field of individualized medicine and in-vitro diagnostics. It opens up potential for future collaborations and interdisciplinary projects.
