The Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences integrates aspects of sustainability into compulsory and optional engineering courses. Interdisciplinary courses are designed to impart skills for holistic, sustainable product development.
Goals
As part of the project, sustainability-related topics are integrated into compulsory and optional subjects of the engineering courses at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences. In addition to technical, ecological, economic and social aspects of sustainability are also taught. The aim is to equip students with the necessary skills to develop environmentally conscious products and processes. Interdisciplinary courses and cross-faculty cooperation are designed to promote holistic thinking. The CDIO approach (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) enables practice-oriented learning. In order to anchor the content in the long term, the study and examination regulations for the Master's degree courses are being revised. This will be followed by transfer to the Bachelor's degree courses and further education courses. The aim is to give students a systemic view of product development and integrate sustainability issues into teaching.
