The MTI brings together academic members from STEM subjects at the University of Koblenz and Koblenz University of Applied Sciences as well as regional doctors and therapists. The aim of the institute is to improve the transfer of knowledge from IT and engineering research to clinical practice.
Goals
The MTI has a total of 60 members from eleven institutions. It works in six medical technology working groups (orthopaedics, biophysics, health data, sensor technology, optimization, radiotherapy). The project pursues three central objectives. The strengthening of regional exchange, the development of a communication strategy and the promotion of young scientists. In order to intensify the exchange within the region, colloquia are organized at which medical experts give specialist lectures on current clinical topics. An annual symposium provides a platform for dialog between universities and stakeholders in the healthcare sector. In addition, knowledge transfer is promoted through further education and training courses for healthcare staff.
