in 2026, the planetarium in Jena will celebrate its 100th anniversary. To mark the anniversary, extensive modernization work will be carried out to ensure that it retains its pioneering role in terms of knowledge transfer and technology.
Goals
The Zeiss Planetarium Jena is the longest-serving projection planetarium in the world. With up to 170,000 visitors a year, it is not only the most visited scientific facility in Jena, but also a center for modern science education. It combines science, nature and art in an incomparable way.
The Jena Planetarium has always set new standards in acoustic and visual technology. It has often been a global pioneer in the introduction of the latest planetarium and presentation technologies. On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, the planetarium is to be comprehensively modernized in order to maintain its international standing and reputation in knowledge transfer and the technology used. The planned renewal of the projection and audio technology ensures that the planetarium will continue to convey scientific content at the highest level in the future.
