Prof. Dr. Thomas Wolfers took over the professorship for Artificial Intelligence in Neural Systems Imaging at Friedrich Schiller University Jena on October 1, 2025. His research develops AI methods to address neuroscientific questions and better understand complex brain diseases.
The endowed professorship will research new AI methods for the application areas of medicine and biotechnology. This will expand the combination of mathematical, computer science and technical expertise with biotechnological and medical applications at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences.
The endowed professorship researches methods of artificial intelligence and develops innovative autonomous systems, such as four-legged robots, ground and water vehicles, which are able to move in natural environments and automatically record, analyze and interpret complex environmental and ecosystem data.
Prof. Dr. Claudia Hildebrandt has held the professorship for computer science and its didactics at Heidelberg University of Applied Sciences since June 1, 2022. In addition to researching the performance characteristics of students, she is also concerned with the influence of further education measures.
The endowed professorship researches the efficient coordination of energy supply and consumption in non-centrally controllable systems. Examples of applications can be found both in wholesale and in small-scale energy markets or in grid management.
The endowed professorship researches adaptable and patient-centered robotic systems in order to use them for operations, diagnoses and as assistance. The professorship thus strategically expands the profile of Jena University of Applied Sciences to include the pioneering field of medical robotics.
CZS Endowed Professor Uwe D. Zeitner was appointed to the University of Jena in May 2025. The professorship focuses on the adaptation of high-resolution lithographic processes to problems in optics.
Prof. Dr. Roukaya Issaoui has held the professorship for Resource Efficiency and Sustainable Raw Materials Supply at Pforzheim University since March 1, 2025. She aims to strengthen political and entrepreneurial action with regard to resource efficiency.
The aim of the endowed professorship is to research and develop products and processes with a particular focus on resource availability and efficiency. Topics relating to digitalization and artificial intelligence will support the development of the professorship's profile.
The endowed professorship develops pioneering approaches to maintain and modernize bridge structures in a resource-efficient manner. This requires innovative concepts that combine material technology developments, monitoring of structures with digital methods and resource-efficient construction methods.
