CZS Transfer 2026: Data

The call for proposals “CZS Transfer 2026: Data” addresses research into technologies that improve our understanding of data in biology and medicine, as well as its processing and use.

Detailed information:

Funding budget: 1.200.000 €
Letter of intent deadline: 17.11.2025
Full proposal deadline: 27.01.2026

Goals

The CZS Transfer programme supports interdisciplinary research projects in the STEM field at universities of applied sciences.

As part of the “CZS Transfer 2026: Data” call for proposals, universities of applied sciences are being supported in implementing innovative and scientifically promising concepts in the field of life science technologies.

The call addresses research that improves our understanding of data in biology and medicine, as well as its processing and use.

The successful handling of data, from processing to visualization and interpretation, is a decisive success factor for research projects in the life sciences. There is still great potential here for both research and medical applications. This call for proposals therefore aims to fund projects that further developing signal processing in existing biological and medical sensor technology, developing patient-centered applications through multimodal health data or: improve freely available approaches for the efficient processing of life science data.

What are the application requirement specifications?

  • The project must align with the strategic orientation of the higher education institution.
  • The project must strengthen an already established area of research at the higher education institution.
  • The project must have great potential in the practical application of the acquired knowledge.
  • The project must contribute to long-term strengthening of competencies in the research area.

Who is eligible to apply?

The following public universities of applied sciences are eligible to apply (numbers indicate number of possible applications):

  • Baden-Württemberg: Aalen, Albstadt-Sigmaringen, Furtwangen, Heilbronn, Mannheim, Offenburg, Pforzheim, Reutlingen, Ulm (je 1)
  • Rheinland-Pfalz: Bingen, Kaiserslautern, Koblenz, Mainz, Trier (je 1)
  • Thüringen: Erfurt (1), Jena (2), Schmalkalden (1)

A university of applied sciences can submit a joint application with other scientific institutions (universities, universities of applied sciences or non-university research institutions). In this case, the institution submitting the application must take the lead.
