CZS STEM Impact School
As an advanced training programme fostering science communication, the CZS STEM Impact School is targeted towards researchers from the natural sciences and engineering. It is organised by “Wissenschaft im Dialog gGmbH”.
Goals
Science communication should go beyond mere entertainment, facilitation or advertising – with an ultimate goal of shaping social change through knowledge. To this end, scientists need to become more effective at communicating their knowledge to specific stakeholders if they are to achieve key outcomes.
The CZS STEM Impact School of “Wissenschaft im Dialog gGmbH” is funded by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung. With a focus on harnessing effective strategies in communicating knowledge, it aims to help achieve individual impact goals. A progressive modular structure with educational approaches tailored to specific needs gives participants the opportunity to draw up an individual communication and impact plan for their research.
In the summer semester 2025, two face-to-face and one online event will be held over three days each.
What are the application requirements?
As a prerequisite for free participation, applicants need to be supported by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung through ongoing personal or project funding. Formerly funded individuals are eligible to apply, provided they are registered as alumni in the Alumni Portal. Travel and accommodation costs must be covered by the participants themselves.
The CZS STEM Impact School training event will kick off on the following dates:
- 8 to 10 April 2025 as an online webinar (in German)
- 13 to 15 May 2025 in Erfurt (in German)
- 23 to 25 June 2025 in Berlin (in English)
Who is eligible to apply?
The Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung can allocate ten places per event to its sponsorship recipients and alumni. The training programme is aimed at
- PhD students and post-docs who are currently funded by a project of the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung and
- registered CZS alumni who are currently working as PhD students or post-docs.
The number of participants is limited. If the applications submitted exceed the available places, the decision will be made by drawing lots.
