CZS HealthTech Network
The Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung is establishing a “CZS HealthTech Network” to strengthen the connection between medical and technical research. To this end, up to eight CZS HealthTech Fellows from the fields of medicine and technology are being sought.

Goals
The network is intended to consist of up to eight CZS HealthTech Fellows. As part of the network, the CZS provides the fellows with flexibility through funding that can be requested easily and is made available at short notice.
In addition, a coordination office funded by the CZS supports the fellows in organizing and administering the network. A total of up to 10 million euros is available for personnel, material, and investment costs for the fellows and the coordination office.
The Fellows
CZS HealthTech Fellows are leading interdisciplinary researchers from the CZS funding states (Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Thuringia). Through their research and networking activities, they connect the disciplines of medicine and engineering. The group of Fellows consists of medical professionals and STEM researchers.
What are application requirements/criteria for the selection of Fellows?
- Experience in collaboration between medical professionals and engineers
- Own interdisciplinary research at the interface of medicine and technology
- Previous involvement in relevant national and international networks
- Experience in building communities and networks
- Motivation to further develop modern healthcare through the integration of medicine and new technologies
- Thematic alignment of research with the focus areas of sensing, data, surfaces, and synthetics within the CZS key topic Life Science Technologies
Who is eligible to apply?
Eligible applicants are researchers working at a public research institution based in one of the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, or Thuringia. Applicants must have held a W3 professorship or a comparable senior research position for at least three years. A total of up to eight Fellows will be funded.
Duration
Fellows are appointed for a period of three years. An extension of the fellowship is possible. Organizational and administrative tasks are handled by a central coordination office within the CZS HealthTech Network.
