As part of this call for applications, applicants may apply for additional funding for technology transfer. To be eligible, applicants must already be receiving funding from the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung.

Goals
With the CZS Transfer add-on module, individuals and projects funded by the CZS can assess the transfer potential of their research results at an early stage. The focus is particularly on customer needs and market potential, as well as the development and validation of a viable business model.
The goal of this funding is to initiate potential commercialization at an early stage and to increase the success of technology transfer within the framework of CZS-funded projects.
What are the application requirements?
- Applicants must have an active CZS grant.
- Initial results from the ongoing CZS funding must already be available and demonstrate recognizable transfer potential.
What can funding be used for?
Funding may only be requested for in-kind resources aimed at identifying market potential and business model, such as:
- market research and FTO research,
- Design Thinking workshops,
- business model analyses,
- Consulting from venture builders and/or
- interviews with potential customers.
Who is eligible to apply?
- Project leaders of projects currently funded by the CZS
- Recipients of ongoing individual funding from the CZS as postdocs, early-career group leaders, junior professors, or endowed professors

Duration
The funding period is a maximum of six months.
Application
Applications may be submitted starting September 15, 2026, exclusively online via the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung application portal. All required documents are available there - registration is required.
All applications received will be reviewed on the deadlines of February 28, June 30, and October 31.
A funding decision can be expected approximately 4 weeks after the respective deadline.
